Rosses Point Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. A 2km-long wedge of sand is flanked by the great masses of Knocknarea and Benbulben mountains. The scene inspired both WB Yeats and his brother, the painter Jack B Yeats, who painted it many times.
A good swimming beach, it’s clean, safe and a Blue Flag winner, with lifeguards on duty during the summer. Nearby activities include sailing, golf, windsurfing and, of course, walking. This blue flag beach is located 8km from Sligo town via the R291.
